My, how the days---weeks---are flying by. Feels like Christmas just ended, but we're staring at St. Patrick's Day. They say time moves faster when you're busy. That might be why I can't believe how fast this year is blowing by. I've been very busy---writing, editing, blogging, releasing a new novella, touring other sites, outlining and … Continue reading Author Inspiration and This Week’s Writing Links
I'm honored to be hosted today by Joan Hall. Joan is a talented author, a great friend, and a staunch supporter. Today I'm at her site talking about the villains of Gamble, my latest release in the Nightforce Security Series. I hope you'll take a second to visit her site, learn a bit more about … Continue reading Learn More About the Villains of GAMBLE
Ciao, friends. In honor of Valentine's Day, I want to throw my hat in the proverbial romance ring (I've heard somewhere that love is a battlefield) and remind everyone about my selection of titles fit for this time of year. Here are brief descriptions of my work: Like alchemy, prophecy, and deep family roots? Try … Continue reading Shameless Self-Promotion: #Romance for #ValentinesDay
Admit it. You're singing the song from the commercial. I am. (Probably will be all day, too.) I chose this because, today, I feel like a nut. Several of my friends released books around the same time I did. We've been scheduling visits at each other's sites to help promote. Sometimes the details became confusing. … Continue reading Sometimes you feel like a nut…
I can't tell you all how happy I am to be hosting today's guest. We've been friends for years and have had stories published in the same anthologies, but I don't think we've ever released novels so close to each other before. Today, let's celebrate Joan Hall's latest release, Unknown Reasons, and welcome her back … Continue reading Light My Fire (Says Author Joan Hall)
When I was a young girl, I remember looking at food I didn't want to try (like pickled pigs feet or souse, for example) and my grandparents telling me not to judge a book by its cover. I'll admit, even book covers designed by amateurs don't look as bad as souse. If they do, well, then … Continue reading Judging a book by… well, you know.
My friend Joan Hall is at Story Empire today (kind of with her cats) to talk about the way creating a dedicated writing space helped improve her writing career. Check it out (especially if you enjoy mischievous cats).
Consider yourself a wordsmith? Check out this post on Story Empire by Joan Hall, who discusses words—old and new.
Hi, SE readers. Joan here. I thought we’d do something fun today and talk about words.
Over the years, our use of language has evolved. Thank goodness we no longer use seventeenth century English with words like thee, thou, or shouldst. These days we’re much more casual in our conversations. For instance, how often do you order a vegetable burger? You order a veggie burger.
The last few years these words have sprung up: SCOTUS, POTUS, and FLOTUS. These are actually acronyms for Supreme Court of the United States, President of the United States, and First Lady of the United States.
I never used the entire term, but I still stay Supreme Court, President, and First Lady. Evidently, some people are too casual (or perhaps too lazy) to use these terms. It takes just as much effort to use the acronyms as it does to say the word.

Six authors making their rounds all week long, offering prizes and introducing their work to the world. Won’t you join us?
We’re using the bookmobile theme, but somehow I’m picturing a road trip on the Partridge Family’s bus. No matter the image in your mind, I hope we see you this week!
Hey gang, Craig here. As you know, Story Empire is a cooperative effort of six talented authors. We try to bring you some wonderful content on this blog, but we’re all authors, too. Doing a bit of collaborative promotion is part of the deal.
This week we’re going on the Story Empire Roadshow. All six of us are doing a blog tour, there will be some deep discounts on our books, and maybe a few freebies along the way. Watch for the Story Empire Bookmobile out in blogland, and tell your friends about it. You might find some wonderful new blogs to follow, too.
