Ciao, amici! I made a promise to myself to write at least one Vocal story a month. This wasn’t my favorite prompt. I’ve already written a time travel story. (You can read it—“Vicious Circle”—in Quantum Wanderlust, a free anthology.) But I’m always (usually) up for a challenge.
Here is the prompt:
Write a fiction story about a time traveler who tries to alter a historical event.
I had trouble choosing an event. I wanted one I hoped a lot of people wouldn’t tackle. Unfortunately, I couldn’t relate to the time traveler and went immediately into my historical villain. It probably will keep me from meeting the requirements of the challenge, but I did fulfill my goal of writing at least one Vocal story a month.
If you’d like to read Witch Hunt: When Making Things Right Goes Wrong, you can find it here. As always, any hearts, comments, and sharing is appreciated.
Grazie!
Your writing always draws me into the world you’ve created. I commented and hearted ❤

That means so much to me, Jacquie. Thank you for saying so. (And for the heart and comment on the Vocal site, too.) 💕

Wow, Staci. Great story. I was on the edge of my seat. Even though the prompt didn’t do much for you, your story was riveting. Loved it.

Great story. I would have said I’m not into that genre, but now I wonder.

Thanks so much, Michele. I really thought you’d have participated in this one. There are some others coming up. Purple clouds and something about animals.

It was my intent, but I got sidetracked. Perhaps the purple cloud challenge.

Thanks, Nancy.
By the way, I read your bio. We’ve got a lot in common. But it might interest you to know that Joan Hall (the commenter right below you) may rival you in her interest in the Beatles. I mean, I’m a fan (how can anyone not be?), but she’s obsessed.

I was picking up on those vibes from you, too, Staci. Kindred spirits! Re the Beatles, what’s not in my bio is the little fact that I have a Beatles Room. It used to be our nursery but now it’s my computer/gift wrapping room decorated with Beatles photos, posters, bedding, albums … well, you get the idea. Obsessed? Maybe not but I am definitely a Beatlemaniac! 🐞🐞🐞🐞

I’d LOVE to hang out in that room with you. Especially if you’d play a song or two. I’ve always been envious of people who could sing. Try as I might, my voice is pitiful.

You’d be welcome any time! But in lieu of that, please join us at the Rhythm Section debuting tomorrow. There will be links on my site so you won’t miss any of the great music! 🎶
PS – I doubt your voice is pitiful ☺️

Well, it’s not as bad as my sister’s or my dad’s. We joke that they each can only hit one note, and that one’s flat. But still… I’m not good.
I’ll definitely have my eye out for your debut tomorrow. Break a leg!

I love meeting fellow Beatles fans! Yes, I’m obsessed. My husband even refers to them as being my boys. 🙂 I was lucky enough to have seen Ringo and his All Starr band in concert a few years ago. Sadly, I never saw the entire group.

So happy to have you following my site and to meet a fellow Beatlemaniac. My greatest memory was seeing the Lads at Shea Stadium in NY in 1965 – a moment I’ll never forget. Years later my son, who is a cameraman, sent me a text with a 15 second video. He was working an undisclosed assignment and the musical guest was Paul McCartney! The video he sent me was Paul in rehearsal recorded by my son behind the scenes. That’s one video I will never erase from my phone!
I’m looking forward to checking out your site.

That’s so exciting! I’d download that and save it in a million places. Tech and me are not good friends, so I’d worry it would dissolve from my phone.

Loved it! And a perfect read for today. Did you know the Salem Witch trials began on this day?

I did. That’s why I chose the witch trials as my historical event. lol
Thanks, Joan.

I’ve often wondered about the girls who started it all. At least one had to be a devious ringleader. Thanks, Priscilla.
