Ciao, amici! When I began my search for this week’s inspirational quote, I thought about what the last seven days had been like. It didn’t take long for me to realize everything had one common element…
Craziness.
Everything about this past week was insane. Site issues, blog schedule, writing goals, editing demands, family situations. So this quote by Terri Guillemets jumped out at me.
Being an author is being in charge
of your own personal insane asylum.
Yeah, we’re all “crazy” busy. I won’t bore you with the details. But this week alone, just with my characters, it was like trying to herd ferrets. In only one book—one scene—I had a sexually-frustrated punk rock girl, a quartet of obnoxiously-drunk frat boys, a lazy and cantankerous bus driver, and a (you guessed it) crazy homeless man. Add in a bunch of alpha male characters from a different scene and from a different book, a bunch of strong-willed, power-hungry, globe-trotting Americans preparing to fend off an alien attack… well, you can see what I mean.
Actually, I think I’d rather try to herd ferrets. At least they’re all in one place.
Who am I kidding? It was rough, but I loved every second of it!
What about you? How was your writing week? Let’s talk about it.

It was a good writing week, not as interesting as yours was but I felt like I got a few things accomplished. I also started a new collaboration with Teagan Geneviene and finished the first illustrations, so that felt good as well.

Thanks for the giggles, Staci. It’s been a crazy week here, too.
Another awesome lineup of posts. Thanks for sharing. I hope your week is an easier one, but just as exciting. Cheers! π

Wow! That’s an incredible scene – your imagination is vivid and on fire! I love the quote, Staci and I think this is one that will resonate with most writers – although I often feel writing is the easy part! The rest of life is the crazy element! π

I think writing is the easiest part, too. Well, that and research. And outlining. And character creation.
Okay, I don’t struggle with any of it but marketing and promotion.
And life itself? Well, it wouldn’t be fun if it wasn’t crazy!
Thanks, Annika.

Staci, I’m with you on struggling with marketing and promotion – that is tricky and something I know I’m not working hard enough. Oh yes, a crazy fun life is brilliant – I feel for those who are lonely and have it too quiet.

A crazy week here too… maybe itβs to do with the cycle of the moon!

I’m obsessed with lunar stuff. Now I want to research that and see if it was the source of my “lunacy.” (See what I did there? LOL)
Hope you have a good week this coming week.

Didn’t get a lot done this week with family here, but I’m off work today and trying to make up for it. That quote is perfect, Staci!

Lol, that’s quite the entourage filling up your head! Glad that the voices are talking to you, but one at a time would be nice π

One at a time would be so much more peaceful. I guess I just need a better filter.

Whoa! Your new books sound interesting. A sexually frustrated punk girl? Alphas fighting aliens? I can see how ferrets would be a breeze after that. Have fun!

I am having fun… when I’m not trying to wrangle everyone at once. Thanks, Judi.

Love that quote, Staci–about my own insane asylum. Being an ordered person, that is one part of writing that pushes me way outside my comfort zone!

I feel your pain, Jacqui. I’m pretty order-driven, too. But I love a challenge!

This is a great quote. Describes me perfectly. Although my characters aren’t quite as active as yours, they keep me hopping.

This was a particularly active week for my characters. But even on the calm weeks, they get into some scrapes.
Thanks, Michele.

LOVE that quote! It feels more accurate some days than others. And that scene–wow! Talk about conflict and tension and potential stuff! Thank you so much for listing the review–such an awesome review! Take a break this weekend, though. Long enough for a glass of wine and to watch your muse do his exercises out in the yard π

Oh, my gosh, Julie. I have so much to do, I can’t afford to take the weekend. But I wouldn’t mind watching the man do his thing (although I’m pretty sure that body is God-given). Now I’m torn—productivity or…
Yeah, it’s no contest. I’ll be watching him. At least, part of the time. π
Happy weekend!

It sounds like your writing took some fun turns…and yes crazy, too! I loved the quote. It’s one I have to remember.
I actually had a pretty good writing day yesterday. Not many words on paper but the ones I put down finally came together in a manner that worked.I also fleshed out some plot points (you know I’m trying to do better with that) so I’m feeling pretty jazzed today.
Happy Friday and Happy Writing!

I loved the quote, Staci. The nice part is it is good to be in charge. Thank you so much for featuring Lucy and Twiggy. As to writing I really need to get back to a daily routine. I’m doing blog pots, okay but dust is on my WIP. Thanks again.

Happy to share. The Internet would be a better place if we shared more smiles and fewer negative things, I think.
You’ve been busy, so don’t beat yourself up about your neglected WIP. But I hope you’re back at it soon!

That’s music to my ears. Thank you. I’m revising an earlier work that I unpublished a while ago. I’m revamping the whole series then releasing them pretty much back-to-back. I’m about ready to start talking about them, though. Maybe this coming week…
